Pretzel M&M Hugs

Pretzel-M&M-Hugs
Made these last year, they are awesome. Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment or silicone baking sheet. Place Hershey Kiss on pretzel on baking sheet. Heat 4-5 minutes (Kiss will still hold shape, it should not melt). Remove from oven and top with MMs Refrigerate until set, about 5 minutes. Store in airtight container.Source

Grilled Zucchini Roll

Grilled-Zucchini-Roll
There are times when a recipe falls into place so beautifully that you think some greater force must be at work. It is as though a translucent vision of Julia Child, adorned with wings and a halo, floated into my kitchen, laid the ingredients gently in my arms and with a beatific smile, uttered her immortal words, “Bon Appetit!” It could happen. Divine inspiration struck with the sudden appearance of a massive zucchini in my garden. I swear it was not there yesterday. The herbed goat cheese arrived on my doorstep just a few days ago, sent by the generous people at the Ile de France Cheese company. The kalamata olives? Well, olives of all types take up permanent residency in my fridge, regularly replenished as my salt-obsessed palate plows through container after container.Source

Apple-Feta Salad with Chicken

Apple-Feta-Salad-with-Chicken
Apple-Feta Salad with Chicken, Bacon and Walnuts and Balsamic Vinaigrette - this salad is AMAZING.
Do you remember my new favorite fall salad I posted a few weeks ago? Well, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. I love that salad so I decided to make it into a main dish (rather than just a side) so I switched it up a little. How do you turn a salad into a main entree? Add a protein, so I went with chicken and bacon of course. I also swapped out pears from that salad for apples and added Feta cheese instead of Parmesan cheese. Feta pairs perfectly with bacon and apples (try this and you’ll see what I mean).Source

Rotisserie chicken

Rotisserie-chicken
Rotisserie chicken from the market was always my Mom’s backup plan for dinner. It didn’t happen often, but when it did…I loved it! The combination of spices, the crispy skin and the perfectly cooked chicken made me happy. I have been roasting my own chicken this way for years. I wanted to recreate those great flavors into a roasted chicken I could make at home. When you make it yourself, you are able to choose the best quality chicken, because honestly, the ones in the market are quite fatty! It truly is so easy to make and I think this method is foolproof.Source

Cinnamon Sugar Candied Nuts

Chocolate Caramel and Pecan Turtle Clusters

Mini Pumpkin Parfaits

Mini-Pumpkin-Parfaits
My husband Jake and I invested in a fixer upper house at the end of April this year, and it's been fun working on it. We still have long way to go, but it's coming along... Anyways, last weekend I had my family over for a mini 'Thanksgiving' dinner. It was a lot of fun putting everything together for everyone, decorating the table, preparing all the food. I know people tend to indulge a lot at Thanksgiving dinner so I wanted to make a small, light dessert that would be just enough sweetness to finish the meal. These went over really well and were just the right amount, a fun twist on the classic pumpkin pie. The best part is that it took me only minutes to put together, by far the easiest dish of the meal to make! What is your favorite food to eat at Thanksgiving.Source

Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal

Pumpkin-Pie-Oatmeal
This one is right up there with the peanut butter oatmeal for me. Definitely one of my favorites so far. If you like pumpkin pie, you’ll love having this for breakfast! The aromatic pumpkin spices, crunchy pecans, and delicately sweet maple syrup will make you beg for the holidays to come back. It might even force a Christmas tune or two out of you. You never know. Stranger things have happened.Source

Chocolate-Peanut Butter Granola Apple Bites

Chocolate-Peanut-Butter-Granola-Apple-Bites
I am so excited for fall, y’all. Why my craving for cinnamon, cozy sweaters and crunchy leaves hits on the hottest day of the year, I’m not quite sure… But I think it has something to do with my feeling lately of “Oh-my-god-save-me-I’m-melting”! Yup, we’re averaging in the 100’s here in Austin and this lady ain’t lovin’ it. In protest, I’ve abandoned exercising, cooking and any clothes other than tanks, shorts and flops. We’re in dire straits here, people.Source

Red velvet pancakes

Red-velvet-pancakes
I adore red velvet. Red Velvet Cupcakes are one of my all time favorites so I think they definitely deserve to be made in breakfast form. Don’t they just have Christmas written all over them? With such a vibrant and beautiful red there’s not really a more fitting or festive breakfast to serve up on Christmas morning. These are such a breeze to whip up. No offense to any of you that only use pancake mix, but I still don’t understand the whole pancake mix thing. It maybe takes 1 minute longer to make them from scratch versus a pancake mix. And once you do make that switch from pancake mix to made from scratch you’ll have a hard time going back. Not to mention, when you make pancakes from scratch the possibilities are endless! It’s so fun to create and eat so many different flavors of pancakes.Source

Chocolate Lava Cake (Crock Pot)

Chocolate-Lava-Cake-(Crock Pot)
Crock Pot Molten Lava Cake. This is a pretty simple, from scratch chocolate cake that can be done with or without fudgy "lava" ... the texture of the cake is more like a bread pudding than a box cake mix, but it is still lovely and fantastic with some vanilla bean ice cream.Source

Potato Chip Chicken, what a brilliant idea! I found this recipe while browsing some food blogs on Facebook the other day and knew I had to try it asap! I decided to use it with my favorite BBQ chips, Sylvia's Sweet House BBQ Potato Chips, YUM!! It turned out like fried chicken, but baked and I loved how it tasted. I will be making this again.Source

I mean…not here or anything. This post isn’t about Flag Day even a little bit. But you know…it’s still Flag Day.

Actually, we can still totally party here, but it’s just gonna be more about chocolate and caramel and whipped cream than flags, but a party is a party, right.Source

cranberry topped cake

rose cake pop

My daughter Tessa has been asking me to make cake pops for about a year.  I’m usually game to experiment in the kitchen, but whenever she brought up the subject of cake pops, I always found some excuse to put her off.  For some reason, the idea of baking a cake just to crumble it up and wad it into balls seemed strange and unappealing to me.  The other thing that got me was this:  every time I looked up instructions for making cake pops.Source

So you might be asking, what did BAM do while Super Typhoon Usagi was tormenting Asia? I cooked, of course. While the rest of Hong Kong was enjoying their ramen noodles from a cardboard bowl with their disposable chopsticks, our family enjoyed a decadent meal of tender rosemary and herbed pork chops with a roasted shallot wine sauce, roasted herbed carrots, baked potatoes and a delightful spring salad.Source

We don’t go out to eat often. There’s nothing more I love than gaining a little cooking inspiration and having someone else whisk away the dishes. But, because my hubby (and sometimes, even I) thinks the food I make is just as good as the grub we get at restaurants, we tend to enjoy the majority of our meals at home. No complaints here – cooking is what makes my heart beat after all! But I could go for a break now and then.Source

Christmas Cranberry Mojitos

Christmas-Cranberry-Mojitos
One of my favorite things about the holidays is, duh, holiday cocktails. So, I’m pretty excited for the first official Cocktail Friday of the holiday season! Oh, happy day! I started with one of my favorite seasonal ingredients, cranberries, and transformed them into one of the best drinks, a mojito. Now, mojitos are typically a summer drink, but I do love mint in the winter, so I thought the addition of cranberry flavor would work well.Source
